Let's Get to Know the Trees on Our Complex
Ibn Haldun University Complex is an educational home for students from all over the world and it is also hosting a large number of precious plants and trees within the boundaries of the Complex. Let's take a closer look at the variety and characteristics of trees in our university, which contains rare beautiful trees such as Pirnal Oak, Magnolia, Frankincense, and let's get to know the trees of our campus that we pass by every day, sit at the bottom of them, and place bird houses on their branches.

Zeytin Ağacı

Olive... One of the rare trees mentioned in the heavenly religions ... The olive, which has different meanings for each civilization; for the Spanish poet Lorca, the story of Andalusia is a declaration of peace according to Shakespeare. Since an oath is sworn on olives in Surat Tin of the Holy Qur'an, it is considered sacred in Islamic understanding. Hz. Muhammad Mustafa (p.b.u.h.) He encouraged people to go to Al-Aqsa Mosque and encouraged those who could not go to send olive oil to their oil lamps to be used in lighting. Olive trees, which are a symbol of peace in many parts of the world, are set on fire or uprooted by the Israelis in Palestine. The fate of Muslim tombstones and olive trees in Palestine is the same.

Manolya Ağacı

Magnolia, the symbol of innocence... Magnolia, which represents purity and nobility in Chinese culture, represents love of nature, nobility, perseverance and honor in Japan. Magnolia, which is seen as a healing source from its bark to its leaves, has been one of the sought-after plants in the field of medicine throughout history. Magnolia, which decorates the gardens of palaces, mansions and mansions in the Ottoman Empire, invites visitors to a historical journey in the Ihlamur Pavilion, the historical Beykoz Nursery and Dolmabahce Palace. You can also enjoy this unique view in our complex from May to August.

Sığla Ağacı

The cure of diseases, Frankincense... Frankincense, aka the Log Tree, heals all kinds of problems by boiling the balsam that oozes from its cracks. In the Evliya Celebi Travelogue, the journey of frankincense oil through Egypt to India is mentioned. This oil, which was shipped from Marmaris during the Ottoman period, was used for therapeutic purposes in many geographies. Perhaps you will remember that when you see the frankincense trees on campus, you will stop and say hello, that it has existed since the ice age and that it has brought many benefits to humanity..

Hus Ağacı

Birch... is preferred in every field because of its soft and shiny texture and most of all because it has a solid structure. At the same time, it also grows as an ornamental plant. The bark, leaves and seeds are also often used as herbal medicine to provide benefits against diseases. Birch wood, which is available in colors such as yellow, brown, red, white and red, is used in fields such as furniture making, carving, turning and finishing.

Pırnal Meşe Ağacı

Quercus Ilex, the favorite of the fertile Mediterranean basin ... Quercus Ilex, which promises all kinds of greenery with its length of up to 20 meters; grows in the Mediterranean and Balkan regions of Europe, North Africa and Turkey. The oak tree, which houses many birds between its wide branches, retains its vitality in all seasons.

Erguvan Ağacı

Erguvan; the herald of spring in the Bosphorus... A tree that fascinates with its pinkish and purple color, which has a different story in every culture and belief. This tree, which is also found in the Ibn Haldun University Complex, is the color of the empire in Rome and represents determination and glory. In the Ottoman civilization, it is the tree that gives its name to the Erguvan Festivities that announce the arrival of spring with the participation of all the dervishes by His Emir Sultan in Bursa.

Palmiye Ağacı

It is the Palm tree that gives direction to Egyptian architecture... Palm trees, whose earliest known history dates back to the Sumerians, have inspired many civilizations, especially Egyptian architecture. Just like the olive branch symbolizes peace, palm leaves are also seen as a symbol of victory. These trees, which welcome us with their greatness in our complex, have been considered sacred in many civilizations and have been used in the names of people and places. The date palm, which occupies an important place in our civilization, is also one of the palm trees. The palms accompanying your walking path in the complex were seen as the sign of victory in Ancient Greece, wreaths were prepared from palm leaves.

Çınar Ağacı

The symbol of the Ottoman Empire:  Plane tree... It is the tree that Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, saw in his dream, branching and gnawing and enveloping the world. This tree, which has become the symbol of Bursa, one of the favorite capitals of the Ottoman Empire, continues to exist in the tomb of His Holiness Baba Sultan, who participated in the battle on the deer during the conquest of Bursa, growing every day since the day of the conquest. The plane tree is the most embracing tree under which people gather and gather their friendly assemblies decently. In Beyazit, Emirgan and Çengelköy, intellectual people, poets and writers came together under the plane trees, sipping tea on the one hand, and consulting on scientific and literary issues on the other.

The variety of trees on our campus is not limited to just this, of course... For example, we could not even come to the 124 fruit trees in our orchard, which is spread over an area of 4,500 square meters... Perhaps even so many words are too much to notice their existence instead of passing by them unannounced, to feel the vitality in them and to be refreshed, to be living witnesses of the change they experience from autumn to spring, from spring to autumn... What do you say?
